Elijah Jensen-Lindsey is a multi-disciplinary artist residing in Nampa, ID.
Through the practices of music, visual art, comic illustration, conceptual performance, and built environments he elevates the mundane to the holy, and vice versa.
Unfolding Totem is a new body of textile work created during the month of August.
Having never previously displayed work in a coffeehouse, Jensen-Lindsey eagerly contemplated the obstacles inherently affixed to them: the grating rumble of the bean grinder and blender, the woosh of the hot water jet. The echoey, colliding conversations, the stressed out college students sitting at laptops in front of the art.
These situationally valid realities, in various and subtle ways, contributed to the thrust of this body of work.
Q: What would a bleary eyed, pre-coffee person enjoy viewing, while a million sounds and distractions erupt everywhere around them?
A: Something direct, peaceful, and bold.
Hopefully that’s what you’ll find here.
