Artist Statement:
My latest work focuses on repurposing and or recycling items that may ordinarily be discarded. Oftentimes this kind of work is referred to as Upcycling. Upcycling: also known as creative reuse, is the process of transforming by-products, waste materials, useless, or unwanted products into new materials or products perceived to be of greater quality, such as artistic value or environmental value. My new beaded pieces are assembled out of plastic Mardi Gras necklaces and my wreath pieces are built out of toys I find at local thrift stores. My work is influenced by pop art, bright colors, and lots of texture. My current work’s mantra is ‘More is more’. I hope my art can bring a smile to someone’s face and that it brings joy to the setting it ends up residing in.
These pieces are available to take at the time of sale this month!
